The Mobile Learning Network (MoLeNET) is a unique collaborative approach to encouraging, supporting, expanding and promoting mobile learning. Collaboration at national level involved participating institutions and the recent Learning and Skills Council (LSC) who shared the cost of projects introducing or expanding mobile learning. The LSN provided project support and an evaluation programme.
About MoLeSHARE The aim of MoLeShare is to facilitate sharing of learning materials and resources by education practitioners
The new
facility combines resources, case studies, lesson plans, images and digital media enabling you to undertake a combined search across all these areas. See 'MoLeSEARCH' on the navigation bar at the top of each page.
All projects participating in Molenet Phase 3 are expected to contribute outcomes to MoLeSHARE and upload video related content to MoLeTV.
The resources area of this site shares some of the outcomes of the development and collaboration for Molenet phase 1 (2007-8) and phase 2 (2008-9).
A 'resource' is a collection of learning materials with a curriculum focus. Used creativily, added to and edited, materials can be compiled into learning activities and made available in Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and on mobile devices.
The resources area also lists the separate learning materials that make up a resource, case study, lesson plan or files listed in technical and reference information. The support files are useful if you are looking for specific learning material to download and re-purpose. Use the search options to find support files by category.
The image gallery lists the separate images from othe areas of the site. The image gallery is useful if you are looking for a specific picture to download and re-purpose. Use the search options to find images by category.
Images (JPGs and GIFs) are uploaded 'as is'. In some cases these may be large dimensions - as all material can be re-purposed you can download and re-size the images as necessary. On a PC 'Paint Shop Pro' will do this for you. PhotoStory will compile images into a learning activity and allow you to add music and narration and save the activity as a Windows Media File (WMV).
RSS feeds (Really Simple Syndication) are used to publish frequently updated content.
Upload AVI, MP4, 3GP, Windows Media and Quicktime media to MoLeTV (at www.moletv.org.uk). Media will be converted to Adobe Flash Video, Windows Media (.wmv), MP4 and 3GP formats and will be available for multi-format download so it can be viewed on mobile devices. You can link to or embed relevant media in MoLeTV in your virtual learning environment (VLE) or website including examples you add to MoLeSHARE.
Clicking on the player icon (far right at the foot of the player) allows the movie to be played in full screen mode which may be useful in the classroom.
MoLeTV can also be viewed on the iPODTouch and iPHONE3G by going to www.moletv.tv (this version of MoLeTV will not work in standard computer browsers).
Whilst media items from MoLeTV stream using Flash, media using WMV, MP4 and other players do not. It may take a few moments before the media starts to play.
